Just The Tip, Just To See How It Feels...

So, lately at TIKYSS events people have been asking me for tips for speed dating. The truth is I don’t really have any except for don’t stress it and have fun. But, I do have a little tip for keeping your potential matches straight; I suggest that participants write down the names of every person they speak with and at switching time, cross out anyone you aren’t interested in. If you do it this way, you will be less likely to forgot people. Forgetting names of people (booze doesn’t help the memory either but it just tastes so good!) has been a reoccurring problem for participants who wait till the end to write down names on their cards. What do you care if the studs you aren’t interested in think you are interested? They will figure it out eventually…no fear! So, the moral of the tip, write down everyone and cross out the names of participants you aren’t interested at switching time. Maximize your matches!

Our next event will be Thursday, May 6th!

FREEwilliamsburg.com Just Can't Get Enough of Us!

Yesterday, Brian at FREEwilliamsburg.com posted two separate items about TIKYSS. His first post was less than supportive to say the least. However, after some friendly commenting from yours truly and a blog commenting stranger on the original post, FREEwilliamsburg had to change their tune with a second post! Check them out!

And don’t forget, our next event will be Thursday, May 6th!

Please click above for the link to The Ugly New Yorker blog.

Note* We here at The Internet Killed Your Social Skills back and support anyone willing to put themselves out there and participate at our event. We think you all rock!

Also, we love people wanting to write about us and we appreciate them taking out the time to do so. However, to future bloggers, tweeters, writers, and just plan old texters, we ask you to please not partake in any of these acts while actually speed dating. All the people who come out deserve your respect and attention whether you are interested or not. We are all in the same boat right? Plus, you never know! Maybe while giving your full attention to your iPhone, you have missed the cat’s meow.

Julia

Advice for future Speed Daters:

Twittering or texting while participating in an event called The Internet Killed Your Social Skills just might be counter productive.

Just saying.
